ACLU Receives New Website
The Challenge
The mission of the ACLU of Indiana is "to restrain government and to defend the liberties secured to individuals by the United States Constitution, the Bill of Right and the Indiana Constitution." At a time when civil liberties figure so prominently in the public discourse, the ACLU-IN is as important as it has ever been. Through litigation and lobbying, it serves as a constant check on government power and a strong voice for people who might otherwise be ignored. Unfortunate ly, problems with the ACLU-IN website were preventing the organization from getting their message and mission out to the people they were determined to help.
The staff at the ACLU-IN was greatly dissatidfied with their existing website provider. They had no direct control over their website. Changes and updates had to be made by the provider, and often took several moths to go into effect. This made an up-to-date online version of their newsletter and calendar of events impossible. A modern and visually appealing website is important not only as a public face of the organizatio, but also as an important tool for building membership and donation. The technology that was supposed to be helping the ACLU-IN accomplish its goals more effienctly was actually hindering the work of the organization.
The Solution

More importantly, the ACLU-IN staff can control its content directly, meaning no more waiting to have important information updated on the site. NPower created a new, more effective website for the ACLU-IN. It has greatly improved the organization;s ability to communicate with its constituents. The expanded control that the ACLU-IN now has over its website enables staff members to provide up to the minute information without going through a middle man. Thanks to Npower, the ACLU-IN can focus less energyon website concerns and more on defending Indiana residents' civil liberties.
